무심코 TV에서 흘러나온 귀에 익은 뮤직비디오 한편을 힐끗 보다가 그 노래를 이 사람이 불렀다는 사실에 약간의 충격이었다. 300kg의 거구에 뮤직비디오의 배경은 하와이.

근데 노래는 정말 힘 안들이고 편안하게 부르는 것이었다. 노래의 배경에 깔리는 하와이 전통악기 우크렐레(Uklele)와 함께 그는 Over the rainbow와 What a wonderful world가 같은 노래인 것처럼 잘 이어나갔다.

그는 이미 1997년에 과체중으로 사망한 하와이언 뮤지션이다.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole(이즈라엘 카마카위올레)라는 이름을 가진 이 사람은 하와이인들에게는 IZ(이즈)로도 불린다. IZ는 자신뿐만 아니라 자신의 형도 음악을 했고, 역시 과체중으로 먼저 사망했다. 살만 좀 뺐더라면...
